Our studio is often called upon to repair or refurbish older stained glass windows.
Our goal is always to keep as much original material as possible. If there are holes and gaps in the existing panes, we match and replace those sections. If needed, broken or weak leading is replaced with new came chosen to match the original. When glass that has been painted and fired is broken and missing, the new glass will be painted, stained, or enameled to recreate the original treatment. Over time a stained glass window may weaken and sag requiring that it be removed and taken to our studio to be strengthened— sometimes taken apart and re-leaded with new materials. When necessary, we will replace old weather-worn framing with new frames to bring the windows up to modern standards of insulating value.
